Lazlo loves riding his bike. So when Brad found out there was a kids' bike rally in Palmerston North, 45 minutes away, he signed him up right away. He was in the young age group so Brad got to ride with him (I took Liska to the nearby aquatic center so she didn't feel left out). He seemed to have a great time although 30 minutes was way too short for him. Maybe next time we'll sneak him into the older age group.
I thought my very social young man would like a big gathering of bikers. The event was staged as a non-competitive fun ride, where at the end everyone got a medal which Lazlo loved, and random prizes were awarded. In true kiwi fashion, after encouraging everyone to "get on yer bike" and be active, the kids were rewarded with a traditional "sausage sizzle", which is a pale, fat, salt and cereal filler tube steak, slapped in a buttered piece of white bread with the kiwi version of ketchup. Yum, but a bit of a conflicting message...
ReplyDeleteSo much to do and fun, too. Yes, the "conflicting message" is funny. Just when we're almost getting it right!
